Wish Upon A Wedding {Blissful Wishes Ball}

Wish Upon a Wedding is the world’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization! Less than one year old, the organization has 16 active chapters, and will have granted 12 wishes by the end of 2010. During the month of November, they are hosting several fund raising galas and auctions throughout the country, and would like to invite you to participate!

Whether you are a bride or groom to be, a wedding industry professional, or you simply love the concept behind their mission… YOU can help make Wedding Wishes come true, while raising crucial funding needed to sustain this wonderful, new nonprofit organization. Tonight I'm headed off to run a fabulous rehearsal dinner on an old-fashioned paddle wheel boat that will set sail from Old Town Alexandria and cruise past the DC monuments while guests dine on lobsters and clams. The Art of the Thank You

I read a twitter post recently that a handwritten thank you note is the ultimate social media and I have to agree.  In an age of nonstop texts, emails and everything electronic, a handwritten thank you is such a lovely departure.  I got a thank you note from one of my recent couples with photos from the wedding and loved it!

When someone takes the time to send you a gift, a handwritten thank you note is a must.  I know it can be a pain (and when you have close to a hundred to write, it seems daunting and is the last thing you want to do after the craziness of your wedding and honeymoon), but consider it a non-negotiable. So knock off four or five each night with a glass of wine and an episode of Modern Family (okay, maybe that's just me--I love that show) and you'll be done in no time!  Here are some of our favorite ways to make your notes a little more fun and creative!

Cake Love {Wedding Cake Pedestals}

We love cake.  We love cupcakes, cheesecake, upside down cake, coffee cake, . . . well, you get the picture.  But we really love beautiful wedding cakes.

We see a lot of cakes and, of course, we have our favorites.  But one thing that will ruin a perfect cake is a crappy display. Please don't let me see a cake on a tinfoil base ever again. I've had to hide plenty of those with flowers or ribbon or anything I could lay my hands on. So when we got wind of these gorgeous wedding cake pedestals, we felt like cheering! 

This is the perfect way to show off your designer cake with style.  I love that they come in different colors, shapes and designs. From tailored to shabby chic, there is one to fit almost any wedding.

You can also get a few to use on a dessert display if you have multiple cakes or treats to show off. One thing if for sure, you won't have to worry about hiding these bases with anything!
