Tami and Omar wanted to celebrate their wedding at an amazing location that was just as glamorous as they are so they chose the Corcoran Museum. Kathleen Kelly, events coordinator at the museum, could not have been more amazing throughout the entire planning process. So, after the formal wedding took place the week before, the couple was ready to celebrate with their friends and family.
The historic and fun W Hotel, located right next to the White House, was the location where the Bride and Groom chose to spend their weekend preparing for the festivities. The hotel provided a great backdrop for some interesting pictures taken by the talented Noah Hayes and an amazing video captured by none other than Bill Bowen of Suburban Video.
The Bride, her lovely bridal party and family spent the morning with hairstylist, Remona of Bridal Hair by Remona and makeup artist, Nour of Made of Art. The bride has a love of fashion and these ladies really nailed her look. After an incredible photo/video shoot around the hotel and driving around the city in the Groom’s Lamborghini, the couple headed off to the Corcoran for some more photos.
As guests arrived, they were greeted with vibrant blue lighting on the main floor where the dinner and dancing would take place. Their DJ, Dariush, played current music as well as traditional Afghan music for both cocktails and dancing. They also incorporated an Afghan singer, David Sayed, to sing live for some of the special traditions they performed during the reception.
Some of the Afghan traditions they incorporated into their evening included decorating the Bride and groom with henna (after her bridal party performed a beautiful dance presenting her with the henna), serving malida (sugar mix) with the absolutely gorgeous cake designed by Maggie Austin Cakes, dancing by the ladies in her “court”, scarf tied around Bride’s hip by her father at the end of the evening, just to name a few. In addition to the Afghan traditions, the Bride’s sister-in-law performed a beautiful traditional Indian dance for the couple.
Main Event Caterers provided staffing for the event while the guests dined on traditional Afghan food.
Thank you to Noah Hayes for sharing the beautiful images and to my assistants for the day Amanda and Maeve! You guys were awesome!

nice wedding. too bad they blocked the bike lane for their pictures--that's pretty inconsiderate. but the stairwell picture is amazing.
