Hitched Sample Sale!

Well, the holidays have come and gone and we know that brides are busy doing two things: scouring the stores to scoop up bargains at the after-holiday sales AND buying their wedding gowns for 2011!  Well, Hitched is doing both by kicking off the New Year off with a bang - their Sample Sale Soiree!

Although they hate to say goodbye to so many beautiful gowns, they have to make room for new ones so you get the benefit of buying a gorgeous couture gown (including Oscar de la Renta, Lela Rose, Judd Waddell, Amsale and many more!) at a dramatic discount.

Details: Deeply discounted designer wedding gowns! Please note that all sample sale gowns are final sale, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Because the sample sale gowns are stored off-site, the sample sale event is the only time they show sample gowns. The next sample sale will be in April.

A Night at the Museum {Grace + Luca}

After meeting the bride and groom, I knew this wedding was going to be a fun one to plan.  There was never a shortage of laughter during any of our meetings.  The couple made one thing clear at the start of the planning, they wanted their guests to have an incredible experience at their wedding (everything from the décor, to the food and the drinks to the decadent cake buffet). 

They chose to do both their ceremony and reception at the stunning National Museum of Women in the Arts in downtown Washington, DC.  Once they decided on the venue, they then decided to bring in our favorite Joel Wolke from Occasions to help create a delicious menu that included a cheese course and a mini dessert buffet.

We worked closely with the always creative Bill of Edge Flowers to come up with an amazing ceremony design that included white draping and white flower boxes lining the aisle filled with greenery.  The bride didn’t want to include flowers that were not in season so they kept the ceremony décor simple yet elegant and chic.  We used amber lighting around the room in order to create a soft glow.  Thank you to John Farr Lighting for a beautiful set up.

The ceremony began with adorable little fairy princesses leading the processional dressed in white with little fairy wings and crowned with flower crowns and were followed by the ringbearer who carried the Groom’s grandfather's 100-year-old baby pillow.  

 The bride and groom were married in the semi-round surround by family and friends from all over the world.  We had a special candle remain lit throughout the ceremony in honor of the bride’s mother who had passed the year before. 

After the ceremony, guests were ushered to the 3^rd floor of the museum while the vendors worked hard to move the ceremony décor out and the band and reception décor in.

After dinner, the band Broad Sound got the guests out of their seats and kept them going all night long.  

The bride chose to have a custom wedding cake designed by the creative Maggie Austin.

Legally Bound {Washington Post}

Ok, so I was really trying to come up with a cute title for this post.  Hopefully you will find it too cute to be corny.  Fact is, it makes me smile, just like 99% of the time I would receive an e mail from the groom mentioned below, the wonderful and talented Forrest Deegan who can now really be described as famous in his own right.  Their photographer, Greg Gibson, relayed to me a story from when he took them to do their engagement shoot just weeks before their wedding.  Something about the movie Three Amigos and how Forrest proceeded to dictate the entire movie throughout their session.  That was a first for Greg, who has referenced the movie before while shooting.  It's that sly sense of humor, that, is he serious or is he kidding, that makes Forrest such a fun guy.  Fungi, hehe!

And let's not forget the fabulous bride, Ryan.  Ladies, if I tell you her shoes had me at hello I would NOT be lying.  They were fabulous and Ryan herself was sweet as can be.  A medal for this one for putting up with the afore mentioned sense of humor.  She deserves a prince and their big day, the last one of my 2010 wedding year was fit for royalty.

But for now, you just get to hear their story.  Additional pictures to come.  The couple was highlighted in the On Love section of the Washington Post this past Sunday.  I miss them already!

Oh, and the legally bound title, read on.  After all, it was the law that brought them together :)

Relaunch Redux {Mignonne Handmade}

You'd be forgiven for thinking you'd somehow wandered from Bridal Bubbly to the Anthropologie website. Really, it's just the whimisical stylings of Mignonne Handmade, whose creator Jennifer Wood is master of all things pretty. 

I still want to build an entire wedding around that boutonniere. Here's hoping a 2011 bride will give me a chance!

I can't help but to remember fondly my New Year's Eve wedding from last year at The Hotel Monaco in D.C.  What an amazing wedding and party!

Happy anniversary to one of my all-time favorite couples, Eliza and Micah! I hope you ring in every year with as much joy and love as you did last year.

Relaunch Redux {Anne Michelle Heirloom}

I like guessing what models are thinking based on their expressions in photos. When this picture was taken, I wonder if the model wasn't plotting a way to leave the photo shoot still wearing the birdcage veil, based on her slightly sneaky expression. Who could blame her?
