Bride's Head Revisited!

Bride’sHead Revisited has just debuted their Fall 2013 collection. The highlights include three stunning veils inspired by fashion plates of Austrian designer Max Snischek during the 1920’s, and a photo of the designer’s grandparents on their wedding day from 1934.

"I have always been inspired by fashion history and the exquisite techniques of haute couture. From the sleek styles of the late 1950’s/60’s portrayed in Mad Men to the decorative elegance on display in The Great Gatsby, these disparate styles are having a major moment in fashion right now. We can definitely expect to see a strong 20's and 30's influence within the bridal world for fall and winter,” says Emily.

Bella Veil: Chapel length veil of chantilly lace, tulle, and silk ribbon
Maisie Veil: Caged veil of antique blue netting

About Bride’s Head Revisited: Over the past ten years, Bride’s Head Revisited designs have earned a reputation for fine quality and craftsmanship over their years. To create their unique synthesis of classic style and a fresh, modern look, designer Emily Martin combines a love of contemporary design with her background in art and costume history at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, New York.

Bride’s Head Revisited will happily customize any length or style, and all of their veils can be accented with lace, crystals, ribbon, or a custom trim that complements your gown. Every veil is hand sewn and beautifully finished using the finest quality fabrics and trims including Swarovski crystals, silk ribbon and hand-appliquéd lace. One thing that remains constant in all of their designs is the quality and care that they devote to each piece.

D.C. brides can find these lovely veils at Hitched!

Bridal Meditation {Get Your Zen On}

Here's something that falls into the category of "Why aren't there more of these?" or "Why didn't someone think of this sooner?"-- a mediation CD for brides!

Cornelia Powell, a bridal historian and wedding entrepreneur, created OPEN YOUR HEART Meditations for Brides to bring a relaxing introspection into a bride’s life during the dizzying swirl of planning a wedding. Listening to the calming CD is a little refreshment of ease for "on the verge" brides, "Zen" brides, and everyone in-between!

Nocturne {Vendor Love}

Sara and I both had the pleasure of working with the New York band, Nocturne, a couple of months ago and we were both blown away by them. Now we've seen a lot of bands and we have our favorite DC groups but we both had such a great experience working with Nocturne (available through Sam Hill Entertainment). Not only were they amazing performers but they were so easy to work with and had an amazing range of songs. Highly recommended for any bride who wants a packed dance floor and a wedding that guests talk about for years! Check out a video here!

Til' the Cows Come Home!

After meeting with "Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta" star Monte Durham last week to discuss wedding plans and his desire for florals created from, as he puts it, "what cows eat,"  I went online and discovered a surprising number (to me, at least) of bovine-themed weddings. Bring on the Moooooooo!

Wedding Dress Sketches!

Who wouldn't love to have a beautiful sketch of their dress to hang on the wall as a permanent reminder of their amazing day? My good friend Laura Socha creates pencil drawings that capture the elegance and magic of wedding gowns. I can imagine this pretty framed piece displayed on a dresser or hanging in a powder room. Breathtaking!

Charlottesville Charm {S & J Part II}

We are back for Part II of Stephanie and Jay's big day!!  The bride was absolutely amazing at the DIY end of weddings and was able to add so many special touches to her big day!  She even created all of the centerpieces on her own!

Loved the escort card wall, guestbook, and little special touches throughout the room!  Special thanks to DC Rental for all of the linens, base plates, and dinner napkins for adding a little extra sass to the room!

And of course- who wouldn't love this gorgeous candy bar!!

Sound Nation kept the dance floor packed all night long!  Guests were also invited out the gorgeous Keswick patio to enjoy a cigar from John Kacur at The Cigar Box and enjoy the beautiful May weather!

At the end of the night, we lured guests outside with the idea of a nighttime cake cutting with sparklers and surprised them with a little something else...

Just in time for this week... FIREWORKS!!!!

It was an absolutely amazing display to cap off cake cutting!  Guests were so surprised and Dominion Fireworks put on a great show!! So much love to this couple and their adorable pup Callie!
Happy Fourth of July everyone!

xoxo,

Amanda
