I have the opportunity to meet extraordinary families planning weddings. A handful I keep in my heart wondering how they are or what they are up to months and years after their wedding festivities live only in an album or on video. Fewer still keep in touch with me every so often with e mail updates and expanding family pictures. A select few I see now and again at a sibling, other family member or friend's wedding.
For members of the Cohn/Toll family, I was honored to work with them twice in a short period of time as two of their daughters married 16 months apart from each other. I absolutely adore this family. There is so much love between the four kids, two spouses and amazing parents.
I was greatly effected when just following the second wedding Lolly, the mother of my brides, was diagnosed with cancer. In short and always thinking about what she could do for others, it was Lolly's goal to be able to help other cancer patients obtain quality wigs after her recovery, as feeling and looking as much like herself as possible helped her keep a sense of normalcy during a time that was anything but.
Lolly lost her battle in March of this year and her family has started a non profit in her honor to make her goal a reality for so many cancer patients who cannot afford to invest in what some may call a luxury. It is so important to recognize that when you feel good about yourself, you are better able to deal with and stand up to your diagnosis and treatment.
I am honored to be a party of Lolly's Locks inaugural event on November 27th from 6-9pm at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Please visit their event page and learn more about the event and the organization. Lolly's Locks
