All I can say is WOW! I first met Tiwi & Bryce on June 8, 2008 and I instantly knew they would be an amazing couple to work with. We have had a blast over the last year pulling together a dream wedding for them and we were so fortunate to pull together the most incredible team of vendors to make Saturday, June 27, 2009 go down in history as a truly newsworthy wedding!Tiwi & Bryce were looking for a modern, sleek venue to lay the ground work for their Grace Ormonde inspired wedding. What better venue than the Newseum, which had just opened in February 2008! The Newseum, and catering by Wolfgang Puck, is just what we needed to set the tone - the glass, the clean slate space, and the views! Who can resist!
From there, the rest took off. Here is a sneak peek at the wedding from our fabulous photographer, Mary Gardella of Love Life Images. (I will post more photos as they come in!)... Complete with two dogs, three DJs and four rental companies in the mix!
Tiwi's Reem Acra gown was fabulous and complete with a 20 foot long veil!

The bridal party had hair and make up done on-site at the Mandarin Oriental, DC - one of our favorite hotels in the city!
Tiwi & Bryce included several traditional customs into their wedding day. One of them being the "bridal games" where Bryce had to get dressed up and make his way past all the bridesmaids to get to his beautiful bride awaiting him. I don't know if Bryce and the rest of the groomsmen knew what the bridesmaids had in store for them when they signed up for this though...

Check out all the floral elements through out the photos! Volanni Florists, who are Orchid specialists, worked with Tiwi & Bryce to design the Orchid ceremony screens, table centerpieces, bridal bouquet and a special hair wreath for the flower girl. All were absolutely stunning!!
The weather was outstanding on Saturday! All of the formal portraits were taken out on the 8th floor terrace of the Newseum where the ceremony was also held.
Both families were wonderful to work with and everyone attending was so so elated for the couple. It was such a joy to send Tiwi and her parents down the aisle... along with her 20' veil!

Tiwi's two miniature Yorkshire Terriers were in the processional line up. SO Adorable!! The couple also made a donation in the name of the wedding to the Yorkshire Rescue Association.

Very cool picture - this is what the Newseum is all about. Glass, glass and more glass!

Another traditional custom the couple kept was the Tea Ceremony. Here the bride is presenting the groom's family with a gift as a token of her respect to them.
Let them eat cake! We had two cakes for the guests to enjoy. This one pictured below is from the famed Sylvia Weinstock out of New York City. The cake was driven down that morning and we all were in shock seeing the detail that went into the sugar flowers! Amazing!!The other cake was from Charm City Cakes out of Baltimore, or better know as "Ace of Cakes" from the Food Network. I will have to post a picture of that cake when I have one - it was way too cute to miss!

We chose to bring the glass theme indoors for dinner by using glass tables from CORT Event Rentals. With no linen, these tables gave such a modern feel to the dinner space. Perfect Settings provided our square base plates. And Select Event Rental provided everything else from our "ICE" chivari chairs to white dance floor to custom made silver dupioni silk napkins.
John Farr Lighting did a phenomenal job with the LED lighting that changed between two shades of purple every 10 seconds. Something to keep the guests attention at every turn!

Bialek's music provided our ceremony quartet, a DJ specializing in house music for cocktail hour and our dinner DJ, Brennan Sullivan, got the party started after the cake was cut! Tiwi also had a final surprise for Bryce at the end of the evening - we brought in Bryces' favorite, globe trotting, world renowned DJ, Dan Sampson, to finish the evening off!

Last but not least, by far the biggest hit of the night was the cigar bar done by New England Cigar Factory. The gentlemen set up the bar at 7pm and when they came back at 10pm to get started, there must have been 20 guys there lined up waiting for a cigar!
All in all, it was an outstanding event with a team of vendors who were ready to do whatever was necessary to make it a day to remember for the couple. I couldn't have asked for a better clients or a better team to work with!
